The complex was built by architects Felten and Balashov starting in 1781. The buildings housed a chapel, a shelter, and a church. At different times, the premises accommodated visiting religious figures and teachers from Lazarev University. In the early 19th century, Christofor Ekimovich Lazarev acquired land around the church, donating part of it to establish a shelter for impoverished Armenians. During Soviet times, the mansion was used as an office building. Currently, the mansion complex is recognized as a cultural heritage site.
