The mansion is a valuable example of a fully preserved urban estate and inexpensive income housing from the early 20th century. Construction of the building began in 1905, when the land was acquired by Grigory Gorbunov, a representative of a Kostroma Old Believer entrepreneurial dynasty. The income house, built to the design of architect Yuli Fyodorovich Diderikhs, was intended for renting out apartments. Until 1917, the building housed a printing press for Old Believer literature. During the Soviet era, communal apartments were located there, and from 1971, it housed the Kuybyshev District Court. In 2017, the mansion was included in the register of cultural heritage sites of regional significance.
