The building is designed in the Stalinist Empire style, featuring decorative cornices, balconies, and strict symmetrical forms that emphasize its monumentality. The attic at the top of the facade is adorned with bas-reliefs depicting industrial themes. Inside, there is a mixed-use layout with office-style finishes. The building houses a cafe, and there is access to an art space through a door leading to the inner courtyard. Municipal paid parking is located in front of the building. The mansion is suitable for an educational institution, a hotel, or a medical center.

The building is situated on the 1st line at the intersection of 2nd Baumanskaya Street and Technical Pereulok. Nearby are the Supermetal Business Center, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, and Lefortovsky Park. The mansion offers convenient access to The Third Ring Road. The mansion, built in 1948, is an architectural monument. The building of the research institute of ferrous metallurgy was constructed in several phases, from the late 1940s to the mid-1960s. The project's architects were Lev Rudnev and Vladimir Muntz. From 1944 to 1960, the institute was home to the Soviet metallurgist and academician Ivan Pavlovich Bardeen. During its operational years, 500 grades of steel and alloys were developed and implemented in production. The building is currently recognized as an identified cultural heritage site.
