The Trudkoopstroy residential building is the only remaining building in the capital by architect Wilhelm Zimmer. In the 1920s the concept of co-operative houses was developed, so in the Trudkoopstroy house the basement floor was equipped for a common laundry, the mansard floor was allocated for a ‘corridor-type’ dormitory with common kitchens, and the remaining floors housed flats. The most expressive element is the roof with a different-sized volume and stove chimneys of different shapes. In 1967, the building of Trudkoopstroy was featured in the film ‘Three Poplars on Plyushchikha’, as the cafe sets were lined up in front of it.
