In 1825, Golitsyn went bankrupt and had to sell the entire collection and the estate itself. In 1834, the Board of Trustees of Public Welfare Institutions bought the house to establish an orphanage. In 1876, the largest hospital in Moscow at that time was opened in the building, operating until 2015.
