The mansion is listed as a regional cultural heritage site. The building is situated on Taganskaya Street, which originated in the 16th century along the road leading from Moscow through the Tagansky Gates. In 1812, during the Patriotic War, when the Russian army was retreating, the area became one of the centers of the fire. Almost the entire Tagansky district burned down, with only 13 houses surviving, one of which was the merchant’s mansion on Taganskaya Street 7. The first owner of this building was Shlom Melikhov-Belinsky, the merchant of the first guild. Between 1915 and 1922, the street’s name changed several times to Semyonovskaya and Sovetskaya, but in 1922, its historical name, Taganskaya, was restored.
