The neoclassical mansion with elements of the Empire style is part of the architectural ensemble of the Khamovniki barracks. The project was developed in St. Petersburg by the architect Luigi Rusca, who from 1806 headed the commission for the construction of barracks in St. Petersburg. In Moscow, the construction of barracks was carried out by the architects Kazakov and Tamansky in 1807. Three identical monumental buildings were built in a line along the open space of the Khamovniki parade ground. In the central part of each building there was a portico with columns and capitals of the Tuscan order. The first floor was decorated with rustication. All three buildings had the main facade facing the Moscow River. The barracks were perfectly visible from its opposite bank and were an iconic part of a beautiful panorama.
