The mansion was built in 1842 by the architect Kozlovsky on the site of the Church of the Annunciation that stood here in the 16th-17th centuries. The house served as a residential two-storey wing of the city estate of merchant Vasily Semenov. From 1908 to 1911, the artist Serov lived and worked here. By that time he mostly painted portraits to order. Nevertheless, in 1910 Serov painted the world-famous painting 'The Abduction of Europe'. Today, the mansion is listed as a cultural heritage object.
